The Face of Beauty

The definition of beauty

Because the world is so youth obsessed, now men are jumping on the band wagon and starting to wear makeup as well to help keep them looking younger longer. Now I'm not talking about about full-blown out Goth look, I mean simple things like concealer or tinted moisturizer. Maybe mascara to darken their super long lashes they have naturally. Would you date someone you have to share the mirror with in the morning because he is putting on makeup as well?

I have to say that it would not make me feel all fuzzy and warm inside to see my man applying or wearing make up! I like my man wild and rugged, and it is a struggle to have him put a little hair gel on to keep his hair a bit neater!!

See? What you are saying when you read any forum about men wearing makeup this is 90% of the answer you will see. Most woman don't want their men wearing makeup because it just doesn't seem right. But we are all used to the idea that a hot man is that one with the 6 pack abs, tight butt and looking tanned and ready. The idea that the ideal man is wearing makeup doesn't fit this picture.

When men wear makeup they really can't wear what we wear because the formulas aren't created for them. And besides if WE can't find a foundation that is the correct color for us, how could they?

I suppose it is okay, as long as it is not obvious to the naked eye that Mr is wearing "make-up",
but then again, men's products are widely advertised these days.(but he must not touch my stuff)

I think it depends on what we, you, define as 'makeup' when it relates to men?

Makeup (foundation, cover sticks, etc) are used by male actors, both on and off the set, stage, film, and no one seems to notice. It is discreet. Would hair styling products be considered 'makeup'? How about pedicures, manicures and taming a 'uni-brow'?

Men are more concerned with how they look...to attract whomever, and I think psychologically and emotionally, that is a 'good' thing.
Self-improvement and feeling good about yourself is not just the province of women in regards to 'makeup' products for men. It is self-improvement and caring for yourself and your appearance.

The idea of makeup is foundation, cover sticks, mascara, eyeliner, eye shadow that type of products.
Hair products are beauty products but not in this context on this article thought of as makeup.
I don't that if a man who is willing to take care of his nails and have manicures or pedicures as someone doing makeup. And taming that brow? Please some men have more eye brows than we do eye lashes.. they are nuts not to tame it. In fact when my husband gets his hair cut, he gets his brows trimmed as well. That is just taking care of himself.
Self-improvement is not just a woman thing, its something we all need to work on.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful questions..

Hmmmm! I don't know about this one. I suppose if a man wants to wear makeup I don't care. I wouldn't want to share my makeup or my mirror in the morning. I can't quite see my man wearing makeup. He is the rugged, outdoorsy type and I don't think he would be interested.

But I can see where this may appeal to some men. I think it will depend on the lifestyle they lead and the preconceptions they have about men wearing makeup. But if the Hollywood types are doing it on and off screen, the trend will soon spread. I think men should look the best they can and if they think makeup makes them look better, feel more confident - then I say it is probably for them. However, for the rugged types - if they aren't into it - so be it. Guess I'm flexible on this one! lol
